Hello. This is the first content for my website. You may be asking, “Why have you created this?” My goal is to give scriptural references which help to support people who are suffering from anxiety and its family of emotional challenges. Anxiety is an emotion we all suffer from. Some people confront it on a daily basis. It is something that can run the gamut from some discomfort to emotional breakdown.
As an example many people are scared to death of public speaking. If you were given a topic and advised you needed to get up in front of a group and speak about it for 3-5 minutes-some people may be reaching for the hari kari knives (just kidding). But we confront problems of varying natures and degrees all throughout our lives. You know-when these types of events cause turmoil in your life-there is one solution that works every time. You have the troubleshooting manual at your fingertips. It is called the Bible. It is the most sold book of all times. It has stood the test of time being around in some form for almost 2000 years. It is the God-breathed word of our Lord. And within its covers you can find the answer to any question you have.
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, anxiety is defined as an “apprehensive uneasiness or nervousness usually over an impending or anticipated ill”. It is characterized as a state of being anxious, or in medical terms, an abnormal, overwhelming sense of fear often accompanied by physical tension.
Does that sound like what you are experiencing in part or in whole? Anxiety is really part of an array of other maladies that can disrupt your life and leave you trapped until you can find a remedy to deal with them. Other emotions can be frustration, depression, fear and many more.
📖 Proverbs 3:5–6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Trust is an integral part of a relationship with the Lord. You are communicating with the creator of the universe and he will take time to listen to you and instill the wisdom you need for any and all situations. I have been a Christian for 40 years. I can’t tell you the number of times that I relied upon the Lord and he helped me through the storm. With a small problem like the pitter patter of the rain. Or if it is a tornado or hurricane trying to rip your life apart. He is your refuge in those times.
I will continue to give you scriptures, my bits of wisdom and other reliable people to give guidance and hopefully solutions to deal with the pitfalls and speed bumps of this world. No one said it was going to be easy but we can at least try to walk on a level road versus going up an incline all the time.
There are many books that address anxiety and the other related emotions. Here is one to examine.
- The Stress-Proof Brain — Melanie Greenberg
Passage idea:
“You can’t avoid your stresses, but you can learn to see them as challenges that help you grow.”
Every experience in life goes into your database. The way you handle each one is registered for future reference. God is there to help you navigate through the rough waters and come out the other end unscathed or at least minimally impacted. The more you release it to Him the less damage will be done. It is good to be in his word daily and the wisdom that will be shown to you can be astounding. I’ve been around a long time and the further you get into life-God will help you understand the dangers and start to have preventative behaviors that will keep you from getting in trouble. I know that sounds very simple. Like DUH! But many people, especially younger adults, will need that reminder no matter how elementary it sounds. A lot of things seem like common sense but sometimes people like to test the boundaries and it can have a way of coming back to bite you. If I or the information I lay out can save you even some anguish, then it will all be worth it.
As we move forward I hope that the scriptures and examples I share will help you grow and give you the confidence you need to feel comfortable in tackling this world. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are your team and are all stars. God created everything in this universe, so I think handling the problems of humans is less than simple but we just need to tackle the information in bite-size chunks and learn how He perceives things and follow His lead. I’m not sure if you are a Christian but I hope that scriptural advise is something that will give you the confidence you need to tackle the problems that come your way. Please continue to read my blog and I hope there are nuggets of wisdom from the Lord that give you confidence and solutions to carry through life and make your journey a little more enjoyable.
There is one more scripture that deals with David.
- David – Finding Peace in God During Fear
Scripture:
“When I am afraid, I will trust in You.” – Book of Psalms 56:3
David is the perfect example of relying on the Lord. He was brought in to play the lyre for Saul and give him solace. But when he performed well as a warrior and became a threat to Saul his attitude towards David took a 180. He tried to impale him with a spear and then pursued him in whatever way he could to kill him.
This may be on the upper extreme of anxiety but shows how a loving God, who referred to him as “a man after my own heart”, was able to give David the ability to cope with this violence towards him. Saul came close to annihilating David but in talking to God and praying to him, he was able to navigate through all the anxiety brought upon him. That is the type of God you want. He had David’s back.
The most uplifting scenario you can have during anxiety, frustration or depression is to have any type of support group. Or a thought process that can ease your mind and give you the confidence to prevail. The Lord is all of that. He knows every atom in your body, so he definitely knows your mind and emotions. The only thing you need to do to counteract the emotions is to rely on him. In his word you will find the answers and reliability that God can bring to you. Jesus Christ loved you enough to die for you and was sent by his Father. The team of God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is enough to overcome any foe, situation or emotion you encounter. Remember this verse.
“When I am afraid, I will trust in You.” – Book of Psalms 56:3
David loved his Lord and the words and actions of his God-who had anointed Saul as King. David felt this meant he couldn’t touch him. So, he persisted in avoiding his overtures of death and destruction. And let God be the one to determine his fate. God has the answers, so trust in him and absorb his word on a daily basis to have a roadmap for your life.
